Appearance

Kurogane stands well over six feet tall with a lean build. His skin is tanned and features easily described as handsome. One thing detracting from that is that it is rare to see his forehead relaxed. He constantly looks like he's trying to figure something out, or is annoyed with something, blood red eyes always scowling at what's in front of them. His hair is black and stands naturally in spikes, a few strands falling into his face.

When he is hungry and smells a version of his prey's blood, his eyes change to a golden color. This also can happen if he is very angry about something, seriously fighting, or holding back the urge to attack.

On his back are the remains of his tattoo, a seal in the Celes style. The head of the dragon resting at the base of his neck, tip of the tail curled at the small of his back. The wings cover his back, follow the curve of his ribs around his sides, the longer ones flow down his arms to end at his elbow, two curves start to follow his hipbones to end just below where his pants sit, and two spikes move over his shoulders to run over his collarbone part way. Now it is faded, a shadow of its former glory, only the left side truly black still. The ink seems to get darker closer to his left arm, like the ink was draw up through there. He wears long sleeved shirts to cover it ever since Tokyo. (See end of profile for sketch.)

He is almost always seen with a very long katana at his side. It is painfully plain and simple, black and silver. Kurogane got this sword from the computer shortly after he arrived since Sōhi is with Mokona still. The new sword's name is Magoi for anyone who cares. ~~Why? Because I can.~~ The small kanji (真鯉) are etched on the guard for any nosey/sharp eyed person to comment on.

Personality

Kurogane takes every damaged or injury other people suffer hard, hiding under his set stare his disappointment that he couldn’t prevent it. He tries to keep his distance from people, which is difficult for him since he has a mile wide protective streak. Kurogane yells and only showing a version of anger to people and drags his feet when forced to help or work with people. Everything else is repressed and ignored except for those annoying little thoughts of his, but he knows how to keep these to himself unless under a great deal of stress.

His self-imposed distance from people makes him a lonely soul. If confronted with something he does not want to deal with, Kurogane switches to a state of apathy. He also tends to brood, which only got worst after being turned into a vampire by Fai. That made him realize just how close he’d let them all get. Kurogane hates the idea of people depending on him because he feels he will only fail them again. He also hates being indebted to someone because it’s a blow to his pride. Above all, he hates feeling like someone is using him.

He needs order, not knowing of what another dip into chaos would do to him like it did in Suwa. Kurogane rather be told what to do then have that responsibility fall on him. He is grateful for orders and being given order, yet Kurogane dislikes being a ‘mindless solider’. He does not trust himself to make the right choices however and lets this dislike sit as a frustrated hatred.

Kurogane wouldn’t mind dying in a fight. In fact he wished for an honorable death like that, but first he had a wish to fulfill. He isn’t just giving up though, he just wouldn’t mind being killed. He doubted anyone would blame him for taking an honorable death. Maybe it would make up for the dishonorable life?

Special Abilities

Since being made a vampire, Kurogane heals very quickly and can grow extremely long claws. His physical strength is about what it was before which is very high, he was the strongest soldier in Celes for good reason. Kurogane's speed has increased since becoming a vampire, but his injured shoulder slows him down when using it. He has a higher awareness of blood now and can smell wounds if close enough. Fai and counterparts of the mage are much easier to sense and find for him.

Kurogane can read people rather well even when he tries to ignore them. He can ready auras clearer then he can read fast motions, sometimes shutting his eyes when a fight gets busy. His swordsmanship is top rate, able to take down fighters and monsters alike. Kurogane is able to build and use energy with his attacks, sending destructive waves towards his enemies. This can also block against magical attacks. Since he has lost half his power, Kurogane is only able to use the smaller attacks and only a few at a time. His father's special attack is not possible for him any more.

Worst Nightmare

He’s trapped in one of the castles long hallways, running in a slightly panicked state. It never ends and he grows more and more distressed as it goes. Kurogane can hear screams for help, and though he can’t distinguish who it is, he knows it’s someone he cares for. Most nights it is just a frustrating circle of never finding them as their screams get more and more blood curdling. Sometimes he finds a door. When he opens that door he is suddenly running someone through with his sword. This person can be his mother, father, his old friends, Ashura-ou, or, more recently, one of his traveling companions.

In Higure

◊Feeding from AU!Fay ~~though it tastes bitter and doesn't feed him as well as his true E would.~~ Fay has wished for his blood to be the 'right blood' so it tastes good and gives Kurogane the energy he needs like Fay was his true E.
◊~~Safe to say he is always hungry. He usually get headaches when he is really starving. Kurogane also tends to be possessive/protective of Fay/his food (whether he means to be or not).~~ Still protective of Fay, but not as extreme now.
◊Worst handyman ever. But still helping OU!Fai fix up the cafe on occasion. Finds he can relax a little more around the other vampire.
◊Finds GB!Edna Elric overly annoying. Would punch, but she's a little girl, so... Yeah.
◊More added when I feel like it...
